As the Workforce Development and Education arm of The Greater Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, IMPACT Learning Center develops our future workforce by educating students on the advantages of technical careers available and communicating the skills needed to obtain those jobs. They also enhance our existing workforce through skills training.
The IMPACT Learning Center recognizes that a well educated workforce and a well trained workforce are key elements in economic and community development. Therefore it is the mission of the IMPACT Learning Center to provide basic education, job skills training, and higher educational opportunities to all the citizens of Jackson County, Alabama. By augmenting the interaction between the businesses of the community an public school systems in Jackson County, IMPACT helps to provide insight into the educational process and enhance the education of future employees; thereby providing a globally competitive business environment for Jackson County.
Some of the classes and skills training services offered by IMPACT include:
- Resume and Interview skills workshops
- Globallly competitive cusstomer service workshops
- Communication for work - spanish classes
- Computer instruction/classes
- Partner with Northeast Alabama Adult Education through NACC - GED, Adult reading, English as a second language
- Facilitate Interactive Video Conferences for high school classes
By partnering with Ernest Pruett Center of Technology, NACC, Scottsboro and Jackson County School Systems, Jackson County Economic Development Authority, and both the Business and Government communities through development and implementation of K-12 career exploration programs, IMPACT plays an important role in maintaining our current workforce as well as encourage young people to stay and seek employment in Jackson County. Through the CHOICES program for Middle School, positive adult role-models from the community work with students to create awareness of the importance of their "choices" and foster an awareness of careers in techincal education, post-secondary education as well as opportunities in local industry.

Individually Managing Personal Achievement and Career Training
Funded in part through a USDA Grant, partnership with the Jackson County Commission and the City of Scottsboro, IMPACT Learning Center and the Women's Business Center of North Alabama (WBCNA), provides weekly seminars on establishing a successful business. Their services include start-up assistance and nurturing, counseling and formal mentoring, access to reduced rate services, referrals to other sources, access to financing, business training, and a ready- made network of contacts.
